D wie Duc de Guiche Habe mein Rosen ABC in letzter Zeit etwas vernachlässigt, dabei gibt es noch so einige in meinem Gärtchen. Fahren wir also bei dem trüben Wetter fort mit der Duc de Guiche. Es ist eine alte Gallica Rose und meine Rosenlieferantin hat sie in den höchsten Tönen gelobt. Im ersten Jahr konnte ich das noch nicht verstehen, war ich doch sehr enttäuscht von den eher kleinen Blüten. Doch schon im darauffolgenden Jahr, waren die Blüten gross und kräftig und das Auge in der Mitte einfach zu neckisch. Der Duc duftet himmlisch und hat sich zu einem schönen kleinen Strauch entwickelt, obwohl er bei mir leider nicht den ganzen Tag an der Sonne stehen darf. Ich muss sagen, der edle Herr ist eine der zuverlässigsten und robustesten Rosen in meinem Garten, der im zweiten Anlauf mein Herz im Sturm erobert hat.

I almost forgot to move on with my ABC of the roses... there are a lot more growing in my little garden. So let's move on with Duc de Guiche, it's just the right thing to do on such an ugly weather day. It's an old Gallica-rose and my rose supplier had praised it in glowing terms. At first I couldn't understand why, because its flower were to small for my gusto. But already in the second year Duc showed me, what he was able to do. He showed me big and strong flowers and the eye in the middle of them was so teasing. The Duc smells heavenly and has grown meanwhile to a wonderful little shrub although he may not stay the whole day in full sunshine. I must say, that this noble guy is one of the most reliable and robust roses in my garden, which has captured my heart by storm using the second glance.
