Ich weiss, ich hätte ja mein eigenes grosses Bett im sogenannten Gästezimmer, aber mir gefällt's halt besser bei den beiden. Ich glaube, sie mögen mich sehr, auch wenn ich in diesen einen Raum nicht darf. So, nun habe ich Euch alles erzählt von mir, das reicht.

Heute zeige ich Euch mal wieder eine Austin Züchtung: die Eglantyne Rose. Sie ist benannt nach Eglantyne Jebb, welche 1919 den "Save the Children Fund" ins Leben gerufen hatte. Ja, diese Frau hat wahrlich ein Röschen verdient. Aber hmmm, ob's den grad dieses sein sollte? Nennen wir mal zuerst die Vorzüge der Rose: Sie duftet unheimlich toll, ihre Blüten sind eine Pracht und sie ist sehr blühfreudig. Dann kommen wir mal zu den weniger ruhmreichen Seiten von Eglantyne: als solch selbstloses Röschen opfert sie sich für die hungrigen Mägen der Räupchen nur zu gerne, so angeschlagen ist sie natürlich auch nicht besonders Resistent gegen Krankheiten. Etwas Grössenwahnsinnig scheint die Süsse aber auch zu sein. Denn ihre Blüten sind dermassen gross, dass die eher wackeligen Triebe sie kaum zu halten vermögen. Okay, ich geb's zu, die Rose steht bei mir erst im dritten Jahr, vielleicht braucht sie noch etwas Zeit oder einen besseren Schnitt von mir, dass sie kräftiger wird. Eglantyne ist nicht meine Lieblingsrose, aber ich würde sie niemals aus dem Garten spedieren, denn dazu duftet sie einfach zu lecker.
